Our Work
Three strategic pillars — each grounded in evidence, each designed for lasting impact across Kenya and the region.
Health & Health Systems
We advance universal access to quality reproductive health services and strengthen health systems at every level.
Population Council Kenya leads research that shapes national family planning policy and community-level service delivery. Our work spans contraceptive access, maternal health, postpartum care, and adolescent sexual and reproductive health rights. Through partnerships with Kenya's Ministry of Health and county health departments, we translate findings into sustainable health system improvements.

Social & Economic Wellbeing
We advance gender equality, youth empowerment, and economic resilience through research-driven programs for marginalized communities.
Our work spans gender and youth empowerment through programs like the Adolescent Girls Empowerment Program (AGEP) in Samburu and the DREAMS initiative in Nairobi's informal settlements. We also build economic pathways for vulnerable households through rigorous evaluation of cash transfers and livelihood interventions, working closely with national and county governments to ensure evidence drives investment.

Environment & Climate Resilience
We build adaptive capacity and sustainable livelihoods in the face of climate shocks through evidence-based interventions.
Kenya faces increasing climate-related shocks that threaten livelihoods, food security, and health outcomes. Population Council Kenya conducts research on climate adaptation strategies, evaluates the effectiveness of resilience-building interventions in arid and semi-arid lands (ASALs), and works with communities and county governments to develop locally-rooted solutions that protect vulnerable populations while building long-term sustainability.
