Young Feminist Organizing
Building feminist-led evidence on the impact and value of young feminist organizing, and strengthening young feminists’ capacity to generate and apply it in policy and advocacy spaces.
Young feminist organizing (YFOs) are among the most committed drivers of gender equality in Kenya, rooted in lived experience and deep community trust. Yet they remain significantly underfunded, under-recognised, and largely excluded from decision-making spaces — an exclusion compounded by a fragmented, often anecdotal evidence base that limits sustained investment and policy influence.
Population Council Kenya partnered with young feminists in Kenya and Mexico to build robust, feminist-led evidence on the impact and value of young feminist organizing, combining national landscape mapping with participatory action research and establishing a young feminist-led Community of Practice in Kenya to sustain learning, collaboration, and collective advocacy.
Build feminist-led evidence on young feminist organizing's impact and value, using a participatory action research approach. Strengthen young feminists’ capacity to generate, analyse, and communicate credible evidence. Sustain collaboration through a young feminist-led Community of Practice in Kenya.
Our approach
A phased, participatory approach combined national landscape mapping with participatory action research, reinforced by strategic dissemination and a Community of Practice that sustains learning and collective advocacy across movements.
